LSU Animals in Art

Thomas Livesay is the director of the LSU Museum of Art and is the juror and the judge for the LSU Animals In Art Competition. Out of two hundred and two artists from 40 states and 3 countries who submitted 452 entries, he selected 76 pieces for the Animal in Art Exhibition. The opening reception is Saturday, March 29, 2008. This premier spring art event is one of the top in the city as attested by the thousands of art lovers that jam into the participating businesses. This is Mother’s Day weekend, so treat “Mom” to a night out and to a fine piece of artwork. Mid City is truly the premier art and design district of the city. Its area spans from South 14th to Jefferson Highway and from Claycut to Florida Boulevard. This year proceeds from the art hop will help purchase public art for this area of Baton Rouge. For out of town art lovers, spend the weekend so you can come back on Saturday to take in what you didn’t have a chance to see the night before. Shuttle transportation will be available, or you may just want to stroll along Government Street to take in the art.
